Would you let a robot park your car?

The world and the technology in it are constantly evolving. Amongst the latest in mobile phones and virtual reality, it appears that parking your car is also advancing in some technologically surprising ways, including robots and telecommunication apps!

If you'd prefer a safe, sound and secure airport option with real people – no robots involved – look no further than Pacific Airport Parking. With no fancy technology to get in the way of what you need, book now for the cheapest Melbourne airport parking around.

Here are a few of the weird and wonderful ways to park your car from around the world.

China's smart parking robot

China remains one of the world leaders in technology so it's no surprise that they've created a smart robot to park your car for you.

Claiming to find a parking spot in under two minutes, the device finds drivers a space in even the busiest and tightest areas. Simply drive your vehicle onto the metal board and let the robot do the hard work for you. Claiming to have a failure rate of less than 0.01 per cent, according to People's Daily China, it's a great technological addition to congested areas with an ability to create 40 per cent more parking spaces.

Airport parking with a twist

Similarly to China, Germany have also created a wheeled, self-driven robotic device to help park you car. However, this invention is set to be used in airport car parks!

Going by the name Stan – from Stanley Robotics – the device doesn't need your keys – no, no – it will simply clamp your wheels, lift the car and transport it to a secure spot. Already successfully used in Paris, the system is effective, efficient and eliminates wasted space between ordinary parked cars.

Parking apps

Apps can keep us entertained for hours, but did you know that they could park your car? Engineering leaders, Bosch, have created an app to remotely self park your vehicle with the help of sensors and video. Simply park near to the chosen spot, exit the car and use your mobile phone to park your car from the pavement. The park assist has control over the brakes, steering and engine while you have complete authority over each, slight movement. Watch as your vehicle now enters smaller, more compact spaces than ever before.

Although we may not have some of the world's craziest technological parking (yet), here at Pacific Airport Parking, we do have the cheapest rates for your Melbourne airport parking needs. Contact the team today to securely park your vehicle on your next trip away!
