3 tips for taking care of your skin in-flight

As fun as travelling is, spending a lot of time in the air can really affect with your skin. Whether you find your pores clogged up or feel as if your face is made out of paper, jetting around the world can take its toll on even the best complexions.

So how can you take care of your face on the next holiday? We've got three must-do tips!

Stay hydrated before and after your flight.Stay hydrated before and after your flight.

1. Hydrate and hydrate some more

It has been said many a time, yet we think this can never be overstated. Hydration is your best friend while travelling – and this does not include alcoholic beverages. Drinking enough water isn't just good for avoiding jet lag, but it also makes sure your skin gets the liquid it needs.

Start your trip off well by drinking lots of water before you board the plane, continue to sip water during the flight and your skin will thank you for it.

2. Avoid wearing makeup

This applies to all the lovely ladies who feel like they need to look picture-perfect at all times – you never know when prince charming might come along, right? However, wearing makeup on the plane is anything but good for your face.

If you cannot go without, dab on a bit of mascara but steer away from any powders or foundations – they dry out your skin. Alternatively, you can board the flight with a full face on, remove make-up just after taking off and reapply a minimalist layer before landing.

3. Moisturise properly

This tip goes hand in hand with drinking enough liquids. Moisturise your face after you cleanse to hydrate mid-flight.

Counteracting the low humidity in the cabin is especially important if you tend to have oily skin. The dryness in the plane can cause your skin to go in oil production over-drive, causing acne breakouts.

Going away on holiday is more than booking the flights, sorting out car parking at Melbourne airport and showing up at the hotel. If you want to have the best experience possible, you should also take care of your wellbeing both before and after take-off.
